Baseball Game Preview: Springfield Wildcats vs. Wayne Warriors

For the second straight game, Springfield will face off against Wayne. The Wildcats will host the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Springfield came up short against Wayne on Monday, falling 8-2. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Wayne's part, they got a great performance from Michael Brents as he struck out 11 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave Brents a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Peyton Tengesdahl, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Braylon Byrd, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Springfield's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8-1. As for Wayne, they moved to 2-8 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.
