Baseball Recap: Odessa Takes a Loss

Odessa extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping their season record down to 8-13 in the process. They lost 10-0 to the Midland Legacy Rebels. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rebels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-10 back in February.

As for Midland Legacy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-14-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games.

For Midland Legacy's part, Jaden Rogers made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Rogers has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cole Neatherlin, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Caiden Olivas was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Midland Legacy beat Odessa by a score of 5-2 later that day.
