Preview: West Morris Central Wolfpack vs. Wayne Valley Indians
West Morris Central is 0-3 against Wayne Valley since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The two teams will round out the year against one another at 5:00 p.m. at. One thing working in West Morris Central's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
West Morris Central's 18-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 74-55 to Chatham. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Wayne Valley, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 64-49 loss to Delbarton on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Wayne Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while Delbarton is ranked 15th).
Despite the loss, Wayne Valley got a solid performance out of Caden Flower, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Omar Ali was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds.
West Morris Central bumped their record down to 1-3 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Wayne Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.
West Morris Central and Wayne Valley were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in December of 2022, but West Morris Central came up empty-handed after a 70-69 loss. Thankfully for West Morris Central, Andrew Teicher (who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
