Basketball Recap: Christian Home Educators Fellowship Comes Up Short

After flying high against Varsity Opponent last Friday, Christian Home Educators Fellowship came back down to earth. The Christian Home Educators Fellowship Patriots had to suffer through a 56-25 loss at the hands of the Acadiana Christian Lions. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 75-31 two weeks ago.

Christian Home Educators Fellowship's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lyla Cernich, who posted five points and ten boards. Kara Brettillo also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Even though they lost, Christian Home Educators Fellowship smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive matches.

Acadiana Christian's win on Saturday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Yvette Olivier, who went 9 for 22 en route to 23 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. Olivier's evening made it 14 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Tabb, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards.

Christian Home Educators Fellowship now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Acadiana Christian, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-2.

As of now, neither Christian Home Educators Fellowship nor Acadiana Christian have any future games scheduled.
