Basketball Recap: Diamond Hill-Jarvis Takes a Loss

Diamond Hill-Jarvis lost against Eastern Hills back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Diamond Hill-Jarvis Eagles were outmatched by the Eastern Hills Highlanders and fell 77-38. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-21.

Despite the loss, Diamond Hill-Jarvis had strong showings from Anthony Elizondo, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds, and Jason White, who posted seven points. That was a full 57.9% of Diamond Hill-Jarvis' points, marking the fourth time in a row he's scored more than a third of the team's points.

It was another big night for Messiah Miller, who went 11 for 18 en route to 28 points in addition to seven boards and three steals for Eastern Hills. Miller's evening made it 19 games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Devon Norice, who went 5 of 10 to rack up 14 points and three steals.

Diamond Hill-Jarvis has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-20 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.9 points over those games. As for Eastern Hills, they pushed their record up to 18-7 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Coming up, Diamond Hill-Jarvis will be playing at home against Benbrook at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Eastern Hills, they and Southwest will meet in a classic East v. West matchup at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Eastern Hills' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 12 games.
