Softball Recap: Rich Township Comes Up Short

Rich Township dropped their record down to 9-13 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 18-0 to the Crete-Monee Warriors. The Raptors were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the four contests prior), but the Warriors' pitchers proved too tough.

Rich Township saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lillian Skelly, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for Crete-Monee, their record now sits at 7-13. That 18 run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

On Crete-Monee's side, Kaylee Slattery made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. Slattery was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Taleeana Ramirez was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Ariana Kovacs was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rich Township will take on Thornwood at 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday. As for Crete-Monee, they will square off against Bloom at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
