Baseball Recap: Richmond Gets the Win

After losing to Mt. Vernon the last time they met, Richmond decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Red Devils came out on top against the Marauders by a score of 6-2 on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Red Devils.

Cameron Rodriquez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Darwyn Roman, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Richmond's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-2 (and 3-4 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Zander Juday, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.

Richmond's record is now 9-6. As for Mt. Vernon, they dropped their record down to 7-8 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Richmond beat the Marauders by a score of 2-0 later that day.
