Preview: Wharton Wildcats vs. Hillsborough Terriers

Wharton and Hillsborough are an even 4-4 against one another since December of 2020, but not for long. The Wharton Wildcats will square off against the Hillsborough Terriers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Wharton had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They blew past the Packers 62-22 at home. Wharton has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Hillsborough had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.3 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Wednesday. They came out on top against Countryside by a score of 57-44.

Hillsborough got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ja'mya Roberson out in front who scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Ellayna Stephens, who scored 12 points.

Wharton's win bumped their record up to 21-4. As for Hillsborough, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a massive bump to their 17-7 record this season.

Wharton didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Hillsborough when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 50-46 win. Does Wharton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hillsborough turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
