Basketball Game Preview: Notre Dame Prep Fighting Irish vs. Pontiac Phoenix

The Notre Dame Prep Fighting Irish will head out to take on the Pontiac Phoenix at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Notre Dame Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Pontiac likes a good challenge.

Notre Dame Prep saw some tournament action on Wednesday. They blew past Lamphere 72-47. The Fighting Irish haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Pontiac didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Detroit Country Day on Wednesday, but they still walked away with a 69-63 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Phoenix.

Pontiac pushed their record up to 14-9 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points over those games. As for Notre Dame Prep, the win got them back to even at 11-11.

Notre Dame Prep strolled past Pontiac in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 58-42. Will Notre Dame Prep repeat their success, or does Pontiac have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
