Basketball Recap: Heide Trask Takes a Loss

Heide Trask lost against East Bladen back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Heide Trask Titans were beaten by the East Bladen Eagles 64-23. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 406th, while the Eagles are ranked 100th).

Despite the loss, Heide Trask saw an underclassman step up: freshman Scarlett Dickson went 5 for 12 on her way to 10 points.

Even though they lost, Heide Trask smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive matches.

East Bladen got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was NeNe Ward out in front who went 8 of 10 on her way to 18 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. The game was Ward's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Laila Smith, who went 7 of 8 on her way to 15 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Heide Trask has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for East Bladen, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-2.

Heide Trask will look to defend their home court on Friday against South Columbus at 5:30 p.m. Heide Trask is facing South Columbus at the right time seeing as South Columbus is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for East Bladen, they will face off against West Columbus at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
