Basketball Game Preview: Frankfort Hot Dogs vs. Crawfordsville Athenians

The Frankfort Hot Dogs will take on the Crawfordsville Athenians at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Crawfordsville took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Frankfort, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with six losses in a row, Frankfort turned things around against Clinton Central on Saturday. They came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 56-49.

Frankfort found their leader in sophomore Charlie Beardsley, who posted 13 points in addition to five assists and four steals. Those five assists gave Beardsley a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jack Michael, who put up 14 points.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Crawfordsville's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 56-44 to Southmont.

Frankfort will have to keep a close watch on Mason McCarty and Alec Saidian, a pair of players who had a big impact on Crawfordsville's prior game. McCarty had 20 points, while Saidian earned eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Crawfordsville's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Frankfort, their victory ended a 15-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-14.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Frankfort has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 23.4 boards per game. However, it's not like Crawfordsville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 22.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
