Meridian is 2-8 against Rocky Mountain since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Warriors will square off against the Grizzlies at 6:30 p.m. Meridian has given up an average of 10.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Meridian is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Thursday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 13-12 heartbreaker at the hands of Ridgevue. Even if the Warriors couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Bodee Randall was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
Randall wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Blake Sims, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Carter Byington also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.
Meanwhile, Rocky Mountain made easy work of Kuna on Thursday and carried off a 13-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Grizzlies, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Reece Hudson looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits.
On the hitting side, Rocky Mountain got a massive performance out of Aiden Henzler, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those three runs gave Henzler a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeff Thompson, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
The win made it two in a row for Rocky Mountain and bumps their season record up to 11-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Meridian, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.
Meridian couldn't quite get it done against Rocky Mountain in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 9-5. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
