William Allen and Louis E. Dieruff are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Canaries are taking a road trip to challenge the Huskies at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
On Saturday, William Allen didn't have quite enough to beat Whitehall and fell 5-4. The Canaries have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Daifer Moreta put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.
Moreta wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Durell Holden, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Meanwhile, Louis E. Dieruff was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of Catasauqua.
Brian Cepin made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Jean Varela, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
William Allen's record now sits at 3-16. As for Louis E. Dieruff, their record is now 3-15.
William Allen's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's contest. The Canaries have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Louis E. Dieruff, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will William Allen continue to outrun the ball?
William Allen couldn't quite finish off Louis E. Dieruff in their previous meeting back in April and fell 4-2. Can the Canaries avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
