The Glacier Wolfpack will challenge the Great Falls Bison at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Glacier is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
Glacier is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Montana's top teams: Flathead, who was ranked 18th at the time (Glacier was ranked third). The Wolfpack fell just short of the Braves by a score of 17-16 on Tuesday.
Brady Buckmaster was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Ryne Gillette, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Great Falls). They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over Bozeman on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bison.
Rowan Garten was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Garten was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Tyler Zech was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Beau Carns was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Great Falls' win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Glacier, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.
Glacier's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's contest. The Wolfpack have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Great Falls, though, as they've been averaging only 0.6 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Glacier continue to outrun the ball?
