Baseball Recap: George Washington Comes Up Short

George Washington had lost three straight at home, but on Saturday they dropped down to 5-7 to make it four. They lost 15-2 to the Windsor Wizards. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Patriots of the 7-6 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

George Washington saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rocco Citrone, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

As for Windsor, their record is now 9-3. That looming 15-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

On Windsor's side, Jerry Calderon was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. The dominant performance also gave Calderon a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Liam Delgado was incredible, firing off two home runs, four runs, and two stolen bases while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Isaiah Cronk also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Coming up, George Washington will head out on the road to challenge Rangeview at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.57 runs per game on average), something the Patriots will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Windsor, they will welcome Greeley West at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
