Basketball Game Preview: San Mateo Bearcats vs. Westmont Warriors

The San Mateo Bearcats will face off against the Westmont Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

San Mateo is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against Wilcox by a score of 67-55. The win was familiar territory for the Bearcats, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Westmont, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They strolled past Woodside with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 60-45. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd in California, while the Wildcats are ranked 614th in California), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

San Mateo's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.4 points over those games. As for Westmont, their win bumped their record up to 19-7.
