Softball Preview: Leigh Longhorns vs. Leland Chargers        
        
		
            
 The Leigh Longhorns are on the road again  on Friday to play the Leland Chargers at 4:00  p.m. Leigh is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 6.6  runs per game  this season.
 Leigh can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent  match  on Wednesday. They blew past Westmont 12-5. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Leigh considering their one-run performance the  matchup before.
  Sophia Gandara spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned  (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks.
 On the hitting side, Leigh let  Elise Haneta and  Camryn Manning-Alarcon loose on the outfield. Haneta  scored four  runs while  getting on base  in all five of her plate appearances, while  Manning-Alarcon  went 1-for-3 with five  RBI, a  triple,  and a  run.  Brianna Buchanan was another key contributor,  scoring a  run while going 1-for-4.
 Meanwhile, Leland was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight  loss. They took  an  8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Santa Teresa.
 Leland saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Katelyn Vega, who  got on base  in three of her four plate appearances with  an  RBI. Vega has been consistent recently: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in four consecutive pitching appearances.
 Leigh's win  ended  a  three-game drought on the road  and  puts them at 8-9. As for Leland, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.
 Everything went Leigh's way against Leland when the teams last played  back in March as Leigh made off with  a  6-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Leigh since the  team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
