Softball Recap: Mountain Valley Comes Up Short

If Mountain Valley was riding high fresh off their 22-0 takedown of Mount Abram on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Falcons fell 9-4 to the Spruce Mountain Phoenix on Saturday. The Falcons have struggled against the Phoenix recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Kyanah Wing was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Emma Williamson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Mountain Valley's loss dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Spruce Mountain, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 6-4.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Mountain Valley is set to face off against their familiar foe Monmouth Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Spruce Mountain will challenge rival Dirigo at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
