Baseball Game Preview: Apollo Hawks vs. Camelback Spartans

The Apollo Hawks will take on the Camelback Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Apollo is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

On Saturday, Apollo got the win against Sunnyslope by a conclusive 7-1. Considering the Hawks have won 15 contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Diego Ramos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mateo Flores was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double. That's the most hits he has posted over his last 11 games. Jesus Beltran was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Camelback came up short against Cesar Chavez on Thursday, falling 16-1. The Spartans have struggled against the Champions recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Apollo pushed their record up to 20-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Camelback, their loss dropped their record down to 2-19.
