Basketball Recap: Cottage Comes Up Short

Cottage came into this matchup off a tough 51-point loss on Wednesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Covenant Christian School Rams by a score of 49-47 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cougars have suffered since January 31st.

Despite the loss, Cottage still got an impressive performance from Maxwell Lagan, who shot 52% from the field on his way to 33 points along with six blocks and five rebounds. The game was Lagan's 11th in a row with at least 15 points. Alex Evans also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Covenant Christian School's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Landon Hand led the charge by putting up 17 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Jack Bracewell, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 19 rebounds.

Cottage is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3. As for Covenant Christian School, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Coming up, Cottage will square off against Howard at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Covenant Christian School, after both having extra time off, they and The Campus will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on December 2.
