Basketball Recap: Zanesville Comes Up Short

Zanesville played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets, falling 69-46. The Blue Devils were down 55-34 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Despite the defeat, Zanesville saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lucca Wood went 7 for 15 on his way to 21 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Mohler, who posted ten points.

Zanesville's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Mt. Vernon, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.

When Zanesville and Mt. Vernon next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Zanesville will try to stop Granville's seven-game winning streak when the meet at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Mt. Vernon will try to stop Licking Heights' four-game winning streak when the meet at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
