Baseball Recap: Pike Road Victorious

While Pike Road's win against Park Crossing wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Patriots narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Thunderbirds 5-3. The win continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Thunderbirds: they've now won seven in a row.

Hunter Matthes looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has become a key player for Pike Road: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-17 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Pike Road saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Morton, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Pike Road's record now sits at 11-17. As for Park Crossing, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-8.
