Recap: Grimsley Whirlies vs. Weddington Warriors

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Grimsley Whirlies can now relate to. The match between the Whirlies and the Warriors wasn't particularly close, with the Whirlies falling 44-27. Grimsley's defeat signaled the end of their 13-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Grimsley still got an impressive performance from Mitchell Summers, who rushed for 127 yards and three touchdowns. Summers hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Terrell Anderson, who picked up 129 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Weddington can attribute much of their success to Nick Diamond, who rushed for 129 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries. Tyler Budge and his 94 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Weddington's victory.

Grimsley's defeat dropped their record down to 13-1. As for Weddington, their win was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-2.

Grimsley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Weddington has the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome Independence at 7:00 p.m. on December 1st. Independence's defense has only allowed 15.7 points per game this season, so Weddington's offense will have their work cut out for Weddington.
