Basketball Recap: Marion-Franklin Comes Up Short

Marion-Franklin lost against Walnut Ridge back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Marion-Franklin Red Devils took a blow against the Walnut Ridge Scots, falling 93-32. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 697th, while the Scots are ranked 140th).

Lee'Sean Saunders was nothing short of spectacular for Walnut Ridge: he went 10 of 13 en route to 21 points and three steals. Saunders is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Jahleel Wakeel was another key player, going 7 for 9 on his way to 15 points.

Marion-Franklin's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Walnut Ridge, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-3.

Marion-Franklin has already played their next game, an 85-42 loss against Eastmoor Academy on the 14th. As for Walnut Ridge, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 62-44 win against West on the 14th.
