Softball Recap: New Kent Beats Grafton for Their Seventh Straight Victory

New Kent came tearing into Friday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Grafton Clippers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-1 two weeks ago.

Abbie Kegley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Kegley was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last four times she's played.

In other batting news, Hannah Tober was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Kendall White, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

New Kent was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in three consecutive games.

New Kent's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Grafton, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.
