League recap: LaConner scores huge upset over Tacoma Baptist

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Tacoma Baptist, who took down 163rd ranked Tacoma Baptist, 56-8. Sean Hulbert threw for 208 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 114 yards in the win.

Hulbert and Jamall James provided fans with a highlight when they connected against the Crusaders. The connection was good for 62 yards, the longest such play in 1A/2B Northwest this season.

LaConner's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Dahlton Zavala chipped in 168 yards. Hudson Zavala helped LaConner's passing attack out by catching one ball for 25 yards.

James was the best wideout in the league this week as the Braves beat Tacoma Baptist. James racked up four receptions for 168 yards.

LaConner's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Braves feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Hulbert has thrown for 633 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, while James has 11 catches for 329 yards. Zavala leads the league in rushing with 413 yards.

A big matchup in 1A/2B Northwest this week will be when Mark Smith's team takes on Darrington. As it stands, the Crusaders are in fourth, while the Loggers are in first.

LaConner moved up to 145 from 176 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 56-8 win over Tacoma Baptist helped Johnny Lee's team improve its standing.
