Basketball Recap: Petersburg Comes Up Short

Petersburg lost against Heritage back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Petersburg Crimson Wave were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 65-64 to the Heritage Hurricanes.

Petersburg's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Arkell Crenshaw, who went 9 of 13 en route to 19 points along with five boards and three steals. Crenshaw's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Nylan Robinson was another key player, putting up 15 points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks.

Petersburg's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Heritage, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season.

Petersburg won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Prince George at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Petersburg knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Prince George likes a good challenge. As for Heritage, they will also get right back to it: they'll take on Denbigh at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Denbigh will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Heritage surely won't give up without a fight.
