Softball Game Preview: Beaverhead County Beavers vs. Butte Central Catholic Maroons

The Beaverhead County Beavers will head out on the road to square off against the Butte Central Catholic Maroons at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Beaverhead County has three straight wins, Butte Central Catholic has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Beaverhead County came out on top against Corvallis on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 13-run fourth inning. The Beavers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Blue Devils a 16-0 shutout. While the Beavers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 1-4), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Beaverhead County got a massive performance out of Kylie Konen, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That home run marked the first that Konen has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Kinzy Creighton, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Beaverhead County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .688. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Butte Central Catholic fell victim to Stevensville and their airtight pitching crew last Tuesday. They came up short against the Yellowjackets, falling 10-0.

Beaverhead County pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Butte Central Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Beaverhead County might still be hurting after the 13-3 loss they got from Butte Central Catholic in their previous meeting back in May of 2016. Can the Beavers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
