Softball Recap: Grant Gets the Win

Grant lost to Natchitoches Central back in March of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. Grant walked away with an 8-4 victory over Natchitoches Central.

Peyton Kirtland made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Kirtland was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season.

In other batting news, Carleigh Roe was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Audeleigh Carpenter was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Grant hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in three consecutive matchups.

Grant's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Natchitoches Central, they dropped their record down to 5-14 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grant will square off against Grace Christian at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Natchitoches Central, they will challenge Evangel Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
