Beaverton has gone a perfect 3-0 against North Salem recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Beavers will host the Vikings at 5:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
North Salem will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Beaverton extended their winning streak to four on Wednesday. The Beavers were the clear victors by a 16-7 margin over Reynolds. Considering the Beavers have won four matches by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Zinnia Berg made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single hit and allowing only one earned run while striking out eight over 4.2 innings pitched. Berg was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Beaverton let Halle Lafontaine and Tina Padilla run wild. Lafontaine scored four runs and stole a base while going 5-for-5, while Padilla went 4-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Allium Berg, who scored a run while going 3-for-5.
Beaverton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .548. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Salem). They put the hurt on Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts with a sharp 23-15 win on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Vikings needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Beaverton pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for North Salem, their victory bumped their record up to 2-5.
Beaverton took their win against North Salem in their previous matchup back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 18-5 score. Do the Beavers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
