Duluth East is 0-3 against Andover since October of 2018 but things could change on Tuesday. The Greyhounds are taking a road trip to take on the Huskies at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, Duluth East was able to grind out a solid win over Blaine, taking the game 3-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Greyhounds.
If you add up the scores from across all four sets (87-85) Duluth East actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 10-25, 25-16, 25-23.
Meanwhile, Andover made easy work of Cambridge-Isanti on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 victory.
One reason for the win was Andover's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-14, 25-13.
Andover's win came from a few key players Duluth East will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Katelyn Eisinger, who had four digs and two aces. She is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 12 or more in each of the last three games she's played. Maya Roeder was another key player, getting nine digs and one assist.
Andover was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in three consecutive matches.
Duluth East's record is now 19-8. As for Andover, their record now sits at 17-12.
Duluth East couldn't quite get it done against Andover in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as they fell 3-1. Can the Greyhounds avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
