Basketball Game Preview: Murrieta Valley Nighthawks vs. St. Anthony Saints

The Murrieta Valley Nighthawks and the St. Anthony Saints will face off at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Murrieta Valley is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Ygnacio Valley on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Murrieta Valley was beaten by Ygnacio Valley 78-50. The game marked the Nighthawks' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, St. Anthony was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 61-60 to Rancho Verde. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (57), the Saints still had to take the loss.

St. Anthony has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season. As for Murrieta Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 11-5.

Murrieta Valley came up short against St. Anthony in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, falling 70-61. Can Murrieta Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
