Basketball Recap: Gateway Find Success

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Gateway ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They pulled ahead with a 51-50 photo finish over the Celebration Storm. The victory almost wasn't to be: the Panthers were down 24-8 in the second quarter.

Despite the loss, Celebration saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Edson Oliveira Da Silva went 5 for 7 en route to 17 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Anthony El Dib, who posted six points.

The win snapped Gateway's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-10 record. As for Celebration, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-13.

Gateway has already played their next game, a 50-39 victory against Harmony on the 27th. As for Celebration, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 58-29 loss against St. Cloud on the 24th.
