Vista del Lago easily dispatched Adelanto last Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Ravens fell just short of the Moreno Valley Vikings by a score of 30-27 on Thursday. The Ravens gained 207 more yards on the day, but it was the Vikings that made the best use of them.

Despite the loss, Vista del Lago had strong showings from Josiah Dupree-Boyd, who threw for 300 yards and three TDs while completing 83.3% of his passes, and Jae'Lynn Brown, who picked up 184 receiving yards and three touchdowns. With that strong performance, Brown is now averaging an impressive 103 receiving yards per game.
While Vista del Lago came up short, they sure didn't make it easy for Moreno Valley: they limited their QB to completion percentage of just 45.5%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from one players: Isaac Gonzalez, who each logged one passes deflected. Vista del Lago hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.52 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Vista del Lago's defense didn't let Syree Matthews., get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Jordyn Edwards, Gonzalez, and Evan Palacio, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Moreno Valley's side was Edwards, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made eight total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Matthews had a dynamite game For Moreno Valley., throwing for 113 yards and three TDs, while also rushing for 85 yards and one score on only 12 carries. Ricky Jaramillo was in the mix too, providing the Vikings with two touchdowns.
Having lost for the first time this season, Vista del Lago fell to 3-1. As for Moreno Valley, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vista del Lago will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Granite Hills at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. As for Moreno Valley, they will square off against La Sierra at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
