Basketball Recap: Hermitage Comes Up Short

Hermitage lost against Godwin back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Hermitage Panthers came up short against the Godwin Eagles, falling 43-19. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while the Eagles are ranked 97th).

Godwin's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mia Fairman, who posted ten points and seven boards. Those seven rebounds gave Fairman a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ariana Crowley, who earned ten points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Hermitage's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Godwin, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7.

Hermitage does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Godwin, they will venture away from home to challenge Freeman at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
