Baseball Recap: Fort Kent Starts off Right with Win over Madawaska

Fort Kent gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Madawaska Owls. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Owls recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

James Lamarre made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Lamarre wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dominic Cyr, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fort Kent will take on Presque Isle at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Madawaska, they will head out to challenge Central Aroostook at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
