Basketball Recap: Northwest Takes a Loss

Northwest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 18th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 28-26 heartbreaker at the hands of the Eastern Hills Highlanders. The matchup marked the Texans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Northwest saw an underclassman step up: freshman Trajan Duncan posted eight points.

Eastern Hills had a senior duo take command as Lamarcus Stewart earned 14 points and six boards and Jeremy Thompkins scored six points. Thompkins also posted a block, marking his first of the season.

Northwest's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Eastern Hills, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 2-4 record.

Northwest wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 62-19 loss against Newman Smith on the 25th. As for Eastern Hills, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-41 defeat against Young Men's Leadership Academy on the 25th.
