Baseball Recap: Northern York Wins Going Away Against Big Spring

Northern York had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Big Spring on Tuesday. The Polar Bears never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. That looming 9-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Polar Bears yet this season.

The result came thanks to Ambrose Depasqua's shutout, as he gave up just three hits.

At the plate, Jacob Yost was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryland Yinger, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three runs.

Northern York hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matches.

Northern York pushed their record up to 9-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Big Spring, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9.

Northern York wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 1-0 victory against Greencastle-Antrim on the 1st. As for Big Spring, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 win against James Buchanan on the 1st.
