Softball Recap: Oak Ridge Comes Up Short

Oak Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They lost 9-3 to the Ooltewah Owls. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 14-13 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Leah Curran made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Hensley, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Oak Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Ooltewah, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.

Oak Ridge will venture away from home to challenge Knoxville Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Fighting Irish have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.71 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Ooltewah, they will welcome Cleveland at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
