Basketball Recap: Leylani Quiroz and Aleixa Lara Secure Win for Kermit

Kermit entered their tilt with Presidio on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 30-23 victory over the Presidio Blue Devils. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 44-41 back in January.

Kermit was led to victory by Aleixa Lara and Leylani Quiroz. Lara posted ten points in addition to eight boards and four steals, while Quiroz had six points and five rebounds. That's the most boards Lara has posted since back in January of 2024.

Kermit is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.6 points per game. As for Presidio, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-10 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kermit will square off against Brownfield at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Presidio, they will challenge Denver City at 7:00 p.m. on February 11th.
