Softball Recap: Ballantyne Ridge Takes a Loss

South Mecklenburg hit Ballantyne Ridge with a four-run sixth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wolves lost 12-5 to the Sabres. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Sabres this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-1 back in March.

Taylynn Holnagel made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Ballantyne Ridge and nudges their season record down to 8-13. As for South Mecklenburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ballantyne Ridge will take on Palisades at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Pumas have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.76 runs per game on average), something the Wolves will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for South Mecklenburg, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Myers Park at 5:00 p.m.
