Softball Recap: Cambria-Friesland Beats Randolph for Their Ninth Straight Win

Cambria-Friesland entered their tilt with Randolph on Friday with eight consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with nine. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Rockets a 13-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-0 last Tuesday.

Enya Heller made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Janell Villarreal, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. Zoi Sabol was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI and one stolen base.

Cambria-Friesland pushed their record up to 9-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Randolph, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Cambria-Friesland will take on Horicon at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Randolph, they will square off against Parkview at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Rockets are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
