Mellen waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Butternut Midgets as they made off with an 18-1 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-1 on Tuesday.
Maleah Nortunen made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with five stolen bases and four runs.
