Volleyball Recap: Berthoud Spartans vs. Mead Mavericks

Berthoud and Mead squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Berthoud had to settle for second. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mavericks. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Mavericks recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Avery Tychsen paced Berthoud's offense, picking up 11 kills. Tychsen got some help from Libby Wilson and her 32 assists. Tychsen was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Alana Costello had an outrageously good game for Mead as she had 21 digs and three assists. Costello has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last three times she's played. Kamdyn Morris was another key player, getting seven assists and four digs.

Berthoud's loss dropped their record down to 25-3. As for Mead, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season.
