Soccer Game Preview: Stanton vs. Vanguard

The Stanton Blue Devils will take on the Vanguard Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Stanton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Menendez a 2-0 shutout. Given the Blue Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 81st, while the Falcons are ranked 283rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Vanguard entered their tilt with Fort Walton Beach on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 3-1.

Vanguard is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 36 goals over those six matches. As for Stanton, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-8.
