Recap: Northside Christian Academy Knights vs. Winston-Salem Christian National Lions
After a string of three wins, the Northside Christian Academy Knights's good fortune finally ran out on Sunday. They lost to Winston-Salem Christian National on the road by a decisive 54-39 margin. While losing is never fun, Northside Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Winston-Salem Christian National is ranked fifth).
Despite the defeat, Northside Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: Courtney Ashford scored 17 points. Ashford is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Laylah Toscano, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Northside Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Winston-Salem Christian National, their win bumped their record up to 14-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northside Christian Academy will take on Hickory Grove Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Winston-Salem Christian National, they will be playing in front of their home fans against NC GBB Academy National at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
