Baseball Game Preview: Clintonville Truckers vs. Waupaca Comets

Clintonville and Waupaca are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Truckers will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Comets at 4:30 p.m. Clintonville hasn't scored more than two runs for six games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Clintonville nor Marinette made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Truckers fell just short of the Marines by a score of 3-2.

Andy Lederer made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Waupaca was able to grind out a solid win over Fox Valley Lutheran on Monday, taking the game 10-6.

Waupaca's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Max Dolski, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Dolski has become a key player for the Comets: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-12 otherwise. Another was AJ McDonald, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Waupaca has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-13 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Clintonville, their loss dropped their record down to 3-14.

Clintonville came out on top in a nail-biter against Waupaca in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. Will the Truckers repeat their success, or do the Comets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
