League recap: Brown throws longest pass in league this season for Claremore

Fans got a thrill when Brinley Brown and Dustin Basks connected against McAlester. The connection was good for 70 yards, the longest such play in 5A District 4 this season.

Central's K Jones recorded the longest rushing play in the league this season in his game against McLain Science & Tech last week. Jones' team bested the Titans as he sprinted for 67 yards on the play and finished with 119 in all.

Claremore's dynamic duo of Brown and Basks proved to be unstoppable against the Buffaloes, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Brown threw for 289 yards and 2 touchdowns and Basks had 156 yards receiving. Caleb Webster helped Claremore's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 71 yards.

The Zebras' dynamic duo of Brown and Basks proved tough for McAlester to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Doyle was a key player and the best on defense this week as Central bested McLain Science & Tech. He recorded 2 fumbles.

Basks was the best wideout in the league this week as Claremore fell to Bryan Pratt's team.

Brown put up the best numbers through the air as Rob Gilbreath's team fell to the Buffaloes.

Jones was the most successful running back in 5A District 4 this week. DeAngelo Brewer also contributed to the rushing game with 108 yards on the ground.

He went 18-30 with 2 interceptions.

Claremore's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Zebras feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Brown has thrown for 535 yards and 4 touchdowns this season, while Basks has 17 catches for 306 yards.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Collinsville takes on second place Claremore. Collinsville topped Oologah last week, while the Zebras lost to McAlester.

Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Claremore takes on the Cardinals. The Zebras' offense has recorded 94 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Collinsville has permitted only 48 on the year.

Grove moved up to 142 from 178 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Ridgerunners climbed the ranks as a result of falling to Wagoner 35-14.
