Baseball Recap: Stonewall Jackson Takes a Loss

Stonewall Jackson extended their losing streak to eight on Monday, dropping their season record down to 2-13 in the process. They lost 11-1 to the Central Woodstock Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-1 back in April.

As for Central Woodstock, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-7 record. The match marked their most dominant victory of the season.

For Central Woodstock's part, they got a great performance from Isaac Barb as he struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Barb has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Austin Hosaflook was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Central Woodstock's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-7 when he doesn't). Blake Kniceley was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stonewall Jackson will face off against Riverheads at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Central Woodstock, they will take on Clarke County at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
