Basketball Recap: Laurel Highlands Takes a Loss

Laurel Highlands was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 70-62 to the McKeesport Tigers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 63-58 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Laurel Highlands still got an impressive performance from Luke Martin, who posted 28 points. The dominant performance gave Martin a new career-high in points. Kayden Smith was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Laurel Highlands' defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for McKeesport, their win bumped their record up to 7-8.

Laurel Highlands will head out to square off against Gateway at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Laurel Highlands is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.8 points per game this season. As for McKeesport, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the McKeesport Tigers challenge the Franklin Regional Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. McKeesport knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Franklin Regional likes a good challenge.
